Last night I was on the Author’s Corner with Mr. Splatter, which is a weekly interview series reviewer Mr. Splatter does on TikTok. He goes live and has on an author for questions from both himself and the audience. It was a lot of fun. For a live interview, it was one of best I’ve done. If you missed it (I have no idea how long live videos live on TikTok before they’re removed), it will be available on Mr. Splatter’s YouTube channel eventually. We talked about my books, mostly This Damned House and Baby Fights, about music, my writing process, and more. If you’re on TikTok, you should follow Mr. Splatter. He a rising star of a reviewer, and a really cool dude. And let’s not forget his wife Lisa. She does a lot behind the scenes to help out indie authors. In fact, there’s a cool announcement we made last night that I will touch upon later in this newsletter.
Welcome to Confusions, Delusions, and Formidable Impressions.
News
My latest collection of short stories is coming out November 4th through Godless, and then in both print and eBook through Infected Voices Publishing. What is it called? Sick! Sick! Sick! This little book collects some of my nastier stories, as well and several brand new tales of vile extreme horror published here for the first time. I’d love to share the awesome cover art done by Christy Aldrige of Grim Poppy Design (give her a follow on TikTok), but in my search for promo methods that work, I’m trying something new by keeping the art under wraps until release day. Here are the stories included in this collection:
120 Days
Vengeance of the Donut Man
My 6,000 Pound Wife
Blood Expectations
Blowout
Pacify Her
Wrapped in Plastic
You can grab signed copies of my books in my Big Cartel store. I just restocked This Damned House, Death Obsessed, and Stronger Than Hate. Still waiting on copies of The Circus Oasis.
The big announcement made last night on Author’s Corner with Mr. Splatter is a Halloween themed book box including signed copies of my book This Damned House and Jay Bower’s book Cadaverous, along with all kinds of cool goodies that tie into the themes of each book, bookmarks, stickers, and more! We’ve been working behind the scenes to hash out details. This will be the first of hopefully many seasonal book boxes that Mr. Splatter will put together throughout the coming years. I will post details as we get things nailed down. It’s going to be really cool, and I’m super excited to be involved with this. I would give more info, but I don’t want to risk giving false information, so consider this a tease.
Check out this YouTube video from Anda Kent. She dives into reading four extreme horror books and gives her reactions. One of them is Baby Fights, and she liked it! I love how surprised so many readers are when they like Baby Fights. I guess it’s the absurd book you can’t help but like.
Smoky Mountain Terror
Last week I attended Smoky Mountain Terror in Pigeon Forge, TN. This was the first year. The convention was a lot of fun. I tabled with my buddy Chuck Buda. We sold some books, met some cool people, had some laughs. Michael Berryman stopped at the table and said he thought Infected Voices was a good title. He liked some of my book covers too. We chatted for a little bit. Nice guy. I wanted a picture, but figured I shouldn't ask since the movie stars charge for pics at their table.
This has turned out to be my most profitable convention this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the table prices increased next year, though. We were at a cheaper rate because our table was supposed to be outside, which would have sucked since it rained on Saturday. We ended up inside, thankfully
Snarl by John Boden
A new book by John Boden is always something worthy of mention. I have not read this one yet but will certainly do so. I’ve enjoyed a number of his books, and I’m convinced he gets better and better. This new one is called Snarl. Consider grabbing a copy.
Recent reads From Hell
I’m reading Writer of the Purple Rage by Joe Lansdale and Hanging Corpses by Jay Bower. Both are excellent so far. Both are short story collections.
Closing Words
I think my concerts for the year have been wrapped up. For whatever reason, since moving to Tennessee I have gone to a lot of concerts. I’ve seen Cannibal Corpse, Ghost, Merciful Fate, Mastodon, Mudvayne, Gwar, Kreator, Cold, Smile Empty Soul, and others. Over the past two weeks I met up with fellow writers Chuck Buda and Ryan Harding to see Cavalera and Exhumed. The turn out was very low, but the bands played like they were facing a sold out show. It was a lot of fun. A week later my wife, son, and I traveled to Nashville to wee Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, and Ministry. Fantastic show. I’d seen both Zombie and Cooper twice before, but this was my first time seeing Ministry. It was all good, but Alice Cooper stole the show as far as I’m concerned. At 75 that man has more energy than most forty-year-olds. Truly inspiring. Rob Zombie was more talkative than I’ve ever seen. I’d seen him on his first two solo tours and once with White Zombie. It was a lot of fun, but the drive sucked. We’re done with long travel to concerts for a while.
Anyway, go read a book and leave a review.
Until next time . . .
