I recently sold a story to Mark Tullius for his Dethfest Confessions anthology. The book isn’t out yet. I believe the stories will be released individually first, which is pretty cool. More details to follow as I get more information. My story is called “Walk the Plank” and features a pirate metal band called Red Jolly Roger. The story turned out way better than I’d hoped for. If you haven’t read Mark Tullius and Glenn Hedden’s book Try Not to Die at Dethfest, it’s a great primer for this anthology.
The Baby Fights audiobook is being recorded by John Wayne Comunale between stints on the road. From what I’ve heard, it sounds awesome. I knew he was the man for the job. Check out Grandpappy by Patrick C. Harrison or Deadline by John Wayne himself to hear how good a narrator he is.
Broth House is being recorded for audiobook by Andrew Gibson, who has done quite a few audiobooks including Bentley Little titles. He sent me a few samples and I think he’s going to do a great job with the book.
Recent Reads from Hell
I finished Madonna by Ed Kelleher and Harriette Vidal. It was pretty good. Maybe a little bloated, but over all a serviceable book. I also finished Hanging Corpses by Jay Bower. I enjoyed this collection of tales, particularly the title story and “Roosevelt is for Lovers”. That story was kind of a twisty nightmare. Loved it!
I’m reading A Dark Autum by Kristopher Rufty and still working through Writer of the Purple Rage by Joe Lansdale.
Sick! Sick! Sick!
My newest book Sick! Sick! Sick! came out on Godless two weeks ago. It has been on the Godless top ten for both weeks, making it all the way to #2 this week. Now, I’ve released a number of books through Godless in the past three years and not one of them has made the top ten. Here’s a big thank you to everyone who bought a copy. You rock!
The physical edition of Sick! Sick! Sick! is coming soon. Very, very soon. Here’s the cover art by none other than my pal Tommy Clark.
Keep your eye on your email for a newsletter about the release of Sick! Sick! Sick! There will be a cool bundle for signed copies and a contest as well. Still making a few last minute tweaks on the cover design to appease Amazon and their stringent requirements.
Closing Words
Last weekend I attended Next Chapter Con in Dalton, Georgia. I shared a table with Chuck Buda. We happened to be right across from horror author Megan Stockton. Outside of meeting some new people such as Tracey Nudd, Jesse D’Angelo, Andrew Najberg—and of course it was good seeing Megan again—I only sold a small handful of books. The table was cheap, so I actually came out ahead, but this isn’t an event I will be attending in the future. With conventions you win some and you lose some. This one fell in the middle some were. It was fun, and sometimes that makes up for low sales. But as I do more events, I am starting to weed out the ones that are worth committing to.
That was my last event of the year. I already have a few events scheduled for next year. AuthorCon III, FrankenCon, and TBR Con are on the calendar. I’m sure I’ll add a few more as well.
Until next time . . .
Glad Scares is on your con list. Bought Sick Sick Sick. So excited John Wayne Communale is who’s narrating Baby. I may have to get Audio even though I read it already!
Pssssst :whispers:: It’s Tullius 😁
