Over the weekend I attended CreepyCon Knoxville with my pal Chuck “The Beer Guy” Buda. We shared a table, sold some books, met readers and fellow authors, and had a great time. The newsletter is a day late, but I doubt you really give a shit, although I certainly hope you enjoy these.
Welcome to Confusions, Delusions, and Formidable Impressions!
What’s New?
My Godless series Infected Voices debuted this month with “The Extraction King”, the tale of a dentist gone mad. Do you like body horror? Makes some people squeamish, and gives others delight. I like body horror, so I figured I’d write about the dentist since so many of us enjoy getting our teeth worked on. I’m not the first to write a horror story about the dentist, but hopefully this one will hit the right . . . nerve.
Mojave Mud Caves has been out for a few weeks now. How is it selling? Hell if I know. I’ve never been a writer to pester his publishers for all kinds of stats and info (for better or worse). The paperback version debuted at #1 in American Horror, so there’s that. Did you know that this book was originally published as a signed/limited edition with Thunderstorm Books? If you have known or followed me for a while, you’re probably well aware of that. It happens to be one of the crown jewels in my bejeweled writers cap. I consider a signed/limited edition to be a serious bucket list deal. I still look at that book and marvel. I can only hope that there will be more of those in my future. So yeah, Mojave Mud Caves finally has a trade release, and I couldn’t be happier with it.
Evil Awakens 3: Cult of Rattlesnake Mountain is out now too. This book completes the trilogy, and does it in style. Cults are all kinds of fucked up, if you ask me. I’ve been fascinated with them since Waco and reading Helter Skelter when I was in high school. Me, I don’t understand how people follow someone like that. I don’t even like the idea of following organized religion. This is sort of a junkie cult, but really it’s deeper than that. Much, much deeper.
Recent reads From Hell
I finished The Cursed Among Us by John Durgin. It’s a fun coming of age tale with all that old school horror you know you dig. Creepy graveyards, mystery, twists and turns, all smothered in the occult. Grab a copy HERE.

I’m reading Lot Lizards by ray Garton, Yours Cruelly, Elvira by Cassandra Peterson, and Night Train by Thomas Monteleone.
CreepyCon 2022
CreepyCon was a blast. I shared a table with Chuck Buda (Check out his new one Boondock Butcher!) We had a successful weekend, I think in part to having a great placement on the convention floor, but also because we’re a coupel of cool dudes (ask Chuck why he’s “the beer guy”). There were improvements to the con this year, but by moving the artist tables upstairs, the jury is still out on whether that was beneficial for those vendors. It was great tabling with Chuck. It’s been a while since I’ve shared a table. make the slow times go by much quicker, and makes for a more fun experience overall. My buddy Tony Evans was in attendance. I met him at the same con last year and we’ve kept in touch. He’s a great guy. Do yourself a favor and grab one of his books. It was great talking with him. I also met authors Russell James and B. L. Blankenship. Had a good time talking with them. I’m already planning for next year!
That’s all for now. I’m keeping this one brief since I have things to catch up on. I think next time I’ll include a short story, how’s that sound?
Go out and read horror, you fiends!!!!
